SIRIKWA CLASSIC
CROSS COUNTRY
(2023)

Name Change & 2nd Edition
In 2023, the event was renamed Sirikwa Classic. The new name draws on local cultural heritage, referencing the ancient Sirikwa people of the region, and broadened the race’s identity while continuing on the World Athletics Cross Country Tour Gold series.
At this edition, Faith Kipyegon won the senior women’s race and Charles Lokir won the senior men’s race, maintaining strong Kenyan dominance and drawing international competitors.
The race also offered substantial prize money and included youth and under-20 races, increasing its appeal and competitiveness.
