Origin
The event began in February 12 2022 in Lobo Village, Eldoret, Kenya under the name Agnes Tirop Memorial Cross Country to honour the great Kenyan distance runner Agnes Tirop, who died in 2021. The race was created soon after her death and joined the World Athletics Cross Country Tour calendar.
Samuel Chebolei and Joyce Chepkemoi won the inaugural senior men’s and women’s races, respectively, setting the tone for strong Kenyan performances.
