HOW A CLASSIC WAS BORN.

Cross Country is a long-established athletics discipline in which teams and individuals run on open-air courses over natural terrain, sometimes including muddy, rocky, or hilly terrain. The IAAF held the first World Cross Country Championships in 1973. A decade later, Kenya won the women's race for the first time and has dominated the competition ever since.
